Looking after yourself can often feel like an indulgence or something you don't have time for. I know that I am often guilty of pushing looking after myself to the bottom of the list of things but I also know that when I do look after myself everything works so much better in both my work and life, and I am most definitely a much better mother.
Suzy Reading's book is wonderful for dipping into when you want some help with a particular area of self-care or for some inspiration. You could also sit down and read it all!
The books is based around The Self-Care Vitality Wheel, which is composed of Sleep,Rest,Relaxation & Breathing, Movement & Nutrition, Coping Skills, Physical Environment, Social Connection, Mood Boosters, Goal-Setting & Accomplishment and Values & Purpose.
All these aspects help us to look after and nourish ourselves. This book talks about each of these areas and Suzy also provides yoga exercise for each one too, which as a yoga fan I love.
The idea is to build your own self-care toolkit, which covers each of these areas. I am working on my own self-care toolkit this year but starting a new journal just for this because as it says at the end of the book, "you deserve to flourish and the only person that can really do something about it is you."
